Why not in a bank? There is no law against carrying in a bank.
Hell, where I live the door won't open if you have "too much metal", (unless they know you!). The rule is carry EVERYWHERE you have the stones to carry, the ONE time you don't carry MAY be THE time you need it!

    Old exchange:
"I see you have your pistol, are you expecting trouble?"
"No, ma'am, if I were expecting trouble, I'd have my rifle."

Actually, if I'm expecting trouble I generally don't. go. there. Unlike a police officers, it's not my job to actually head into trouble.

The gun isn't for when I "figure I'm going to need it" but for when I figure I'm not going to need it but things turn out that I figure wrong.

    Exactly

Where doesn't make sense to carry a gun?

I haven't left the house without a compact 9mm since June when the state of Indiana licensed me to carry it. The sad truth is violence is not something we go looking for. Violence is something that is thrust on us with little or no warning, likely when and where you are least expecting it.

I'm not saying having a gun of your own is a sure fire way to avoid being a victim. But it certainly helps even the odds.

I love the compact 9's. I've got a 3913 myself. Highly recomend it over any 380 ever made and I carry it a lot "when I don't figure I'll probably be needing a gun".

Along with the list of incidental anecdotes, more kids drown in buckets than are killed with guns but I don't make my own kids put on a life jacket to go water the dog.

You truly ARE cranky, aren't you?

    ROTFL, yep.

I carry everywhere except at work where I cannot. And Jack...... I don't care if you believe me or not. :D

OK. Here's to ya my friend.

i dont want the lady behind the counter to freak cause she sees a gun on me and pushes the little silent alarm button and i get a police escort out of there, and then they will give me a big lecture and all that blah.

All the more reason to make sure your CC carry is just that. The last place I would not carry is the banks.

i dont know how to CC because i always have my shirts tucked in. i cant stand having my shirt untucked.

No problem partner. Wear a coat, vest or sweatshirt over the top. It's not really that tough. Most people aren't really watching closely. As long as metal isn't hanging out, they won't notice. Hell, a whole lot of OC'ers never get noticed, although I've not heard many accounts of bank OCing.

I've carried in the Mitchell credit union a few times and no one said any thing if they even noticed.

I most always have mine tucked in too. I carry my 3913 more than anything else any more when it's for PP and I just stick it in my right hip pocket. Wear a flannel shirt or what ever jacket I would have worn any way and don't worry about it unless some one starts standing a little too "funny" kind of close and behind me. Then I'll move a little so they can't reach it if they do happen to have noticed it.

Since I generally never figure I'll need it, but since I make no claims of infallibility and don't know when I might be wrong, the only answer is to carry all. the. time. (Except where illegal or otherwise prohibited).

Look at a tuckable IWB holster. While I generally where polo-shirts or T-shirts untucked, I've experimented with my super-tuck holster with a shirt tucked in and it's fine. It keeps a full-size 1911 concealed (comfortably so, I might add) so that my wife can't spot it when she knows its there.

What federal regulations? Last I heard, there were trucking companies that forbade their employees from carrying, but no federal law to that effect. State laws are another animal entirely.

    Blessings,
    B

You are correct, no federal regs. However you have state licensing issues and most companies forbid firearms I'm guessing for liability reasons.

I regularly OC in my bank branches on regular basis. Never have I had an issue. Have actually been congratulated by a couple of the tellers for carrying. And yes at least one branch has one of those you have keys in your pocket so we are going to lock the doors. Still no issues.

Same here, no issues, alarms or having large bags of money automatically handed over to me.

Company policy against weapons in my car sucks. Think I'll bring it up with management again. No telling when IN will get that bill passed.

Outside of to/from work, I carry most everywhere legal.

I think everyone knows by now that I've totally drunk the Raven Kool-Aid.

    Raven Concealment Systems

The new appendix carry holster they're showing on the front page has nice pictures of it concealing quite nicely with the shirts tucked in. The AC isn't the only one that is concealable tucked; the clips used are relatively interchangeable between their holsters.

    From their Holsters lead-in page:
Concealable: RCS designs are created with this attribute as the primary goal. Everyone should make holsters this way, but numerous manufacturers haven’t figured it out. Many so-called "concealment" holsters print like a brick. If your holster doesn’t conceal, you might as well just wear a level-3 retention duty holster.

I fail to see how kids drowning in buckets relates. We live in a fairly safe state, in one of the safer countries in the world. And yet in 2007 356 Hoosiers were Murdered.

I don't expect my house to catch fire. But I have a fire extinguisher, and smoke detectors. I don't expect to get into an auto accident but I carry insurance. I don't plan on meeting someone who chooses me as a target of violence, but I do plan on being something other than a willing victim.

It's not difficult to carry a gun every day on your body. Even a gun the size of a Glock 19. Even in a professional setting where your shirts need to be tucked in, and nobody can know that you're carrying a gun, ever.
