Wonderful article.. spent many hours as kid fishing that chain and have a buddy who is on Sechrist. Great fishing is to be found there... anyone want to go??
You bring the boat, rods, and tackle, I'll bring the beer.
I'm not sure any of my Walleye gear is up to a big Musky.
My great-grandpa was from that area and loved Musky fishing. I got his tackle box when he died. He had these little wire basket looking things with a big treble hook hanging down below. I could never figure out what they were for until I ran into another old time Musky fisherman. I described them to him, he laughed and said it's a baby duck rig.
I'm guessing those are frowned upon by the fish cops now days.
Sechrist is part of the Barbee chain, just SW of Webster. It has shallows all around the shore and drops off fast so troll along the edge of the drop off. Always been my best bet.
If you are on Webster, try the backwaters. It's on the other side of Backwater Rd.
