Hey all, do you store your mosin with the bolt open, the bolt closed but de-cocked, or following Soviet barracks doctrine with the cocking knob 90 degrees counterclockwise? Are any of these methods preferred over others? If so, why? Thanks all in advance!

    Hello,

It's the first weapon I grab to deal with critters if I don't know the size (I grab the .22 if I know it's something small). It therefore leans up against the door frame, mag loaded, bolt open. Bayonet is not attached, but there ready.

    Bolt closed, dry fired.
When transporting, I'll pull the bolt out and toss it in the toolbox. much easier to stuff it into a case that way.

If you plan on using the bayonet for critters, good luck. :D

Bolts open on a few here and there in the safe.... A few rifles with closed bolts takes up some serious real estate in the safe! Bolt open on a few allows me to "stack em deep"! :)
