**BREAKING** House Votes to Cut All Funds to ACORN
    by Publius
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) offered the Defund-ACORN bill to the Student Loans bill. The House vote convincingly to cut ALL federal funds to ACORN.
    Vote: 345 to 75.

Big Government Blog Archive **BREAKING** House Votes to Cut All Funds to ACORN

Now, for those of you keeping track, ACORN receives a lot of its funding from the STATES who provide it via FEDERAL BLOCK GRANT FUNDS that the STATES then break up and disperse to various organizations. It will be interesting to see if this amendment prevents the states from using block grant funds from the federal government to continue to fund ACORN. I will be curious to see the actual wording of the amendment.

Now if we could just get rid of the 75 idoits that voted against de-funding them. I'd like to hear their explanations for voting to continue to fund this corrupt group of slugs! Let's hope this is just the beginning of taking our country back! 1 czar down and now ACORN is on the ropes. :rockwoot:

my thoughts exactly... clearly this is a black and white issue... eve then dems think so, so its not about party lines... those 75 were probably recieving some sort of money for the next campaigns... i would LOVE to hear why they voted no.

Yeah but I wonder if the MSM will cover this or if it'll get back-burnered like the original story(ies)? Kinda makes them look like bigger idiots now!!

Maybe. What will happen is the specialized shows wont let it go though. If its a liberal show (or similar media outlet), they will scream bloody murder over the "racist" action just taken. They get a big "meh" from me anyways. :D

I am happy that Congress is finally beginning to understand the mistakes of allowing private organizations, non-profit or not, to run rampant with Federal, state or local money. Folks can send their money where they want, doesn't matter to me, but when it's tax money, earmarked for a greater purpose (like defense, social programs that work and don't promote illegal activities, education), that grinds me gears.

Unfortunately, the damage Acorn has propagated (helping Obama election) has been done. Seems the current government (Congress and Presidential) had their spree of change, now they spend most of their time reacting to and putting out fires they created in their ferver to get elected by undereducated and misinformed voters. :twocents:

Don't jump up & down yet and SE put away those celebration glasses.
Only the HOUSE passed a bill. We still have to worry about the SENTAE and I6BO.
I wonder if I6BO will indeed cut the hand that helped him.

just so you know this amendment was tucked into a bill allowing a government takeover of the student loan industry. not much of a win when it is in perspective.

It's a win win for the hard left, they get nationalized student loans, and with the damage done to the ACORN name, they can just move that money to the next community organization, or just give ACORN a rebirth under a new name.
