A little over a year ago a handful of veterans, local to the wabash valley, came together on a plan that Maj Elias Donker laid out for us, to assist our community and aid in our own assimilation back into society. We began with hog hunting trips to Texas on veteran family owned land. The costs were covered by the collective group (under 12) at the time. The meat brought back would go to local homeless shelters and food kitchens. We followed that up with building packs with basic necessities for the homeless in Crack bags and would hike to areas where the truly homeless hid out. Shortly after that the United Methodist Church of Terre haute adopted us so we can be official non profit. They've been wonderful in supporting us. We were given a building by the church and have begun holding our weekly meetings there. Recently we had a vet come inboard that is a computer ninja and got our Facebook page and website up and running.

If you know anyone having a difficult time getting acclimated to life after the service, we understand better than anyone. We WANT to help.

If you know someone in need, we want to help.

I'd like to second what Hog Slayer says. Sometimes all we need is space, sometimes a chat with someone who truly understands where our head is. What HS failed to mention, is that many of us meet regularly, on Wednesday evenings, and that anyone with a DD214 is welcome. In fact, I'll take it upon myself to say that anyone with an interest in the well being of a veteran is welcome.

Please look at our website and our facebook. We are currently in the process of expanding our interests to include music and music therapy, discussion groups and further afield with our outreach programs. Plus, the hunts are currently going strong and are proving to be an incredibly positive experience for all involved.
