I truly believe INGO is quicker than a google search in some regards, I'm pretty sure that will be the case for this question.

Lining up a private sale all in Indiana, distance makes. Can a private citizen personally mail a handgun to a recipient's FFL? without going through an FFL on the shippers end?

I thought this was the case, wanting to confirm.

Furthermore, what shipping methods could I use? USPS? Fedex? UPS?

    Thanks!

    Yeah...

    To simplify:

Cannot use USPS as an individual.

You CAN use a common carrier to ship to the FFL.

Lots of FFLs do NOT accept shipments from non-FFLs.

Ask the recipient FFL for a copy of his FFL to take with you to show the common carrier when they freak out.

The common carrier desk monkey will probably freak out.

Common carriers will probably have a policy of mandating overnight shipping.

Shipped one through Fed Ex. The guy freaked out. you would have thought I had a bomb in the package. He had his hands on the box and asked what it was. When I told him, he quickly took his hands off it and looked at me like I was crazy. I started laughing at him and couldn't stop. Don't think he thought it was very funny.

Do make sure you have a copy of the FFL. I had to go home to get it.

FYI, in case you didn't know, UPS will ONLY accept it at a customer service counter at a shippng terminal. The UPS Store and similar place cannot take it (per UPS policy, don't blame the independent owners of the UPS stores).

UPS requires that handguns be shipped "overnight" due to theft by their own employees. I bet they stick it to you for the same fees even if the package never comes near an airplane.

I pay a dealer $10 to mail handguns for me (and I pay the postage, too, of course).
