Gotta love the departments that CHARGE to apply. I believe Carmel is the same way, although they charge much less.

I sort of understand the charge thing. Most departments get so many people applying that I would guess having a fee would make sure people are serious about applying. Or it could be a budget thing, I don't know.

Handcuff (ER handcock) county has not got a real good rep for using money collected from Inmates in the proper way. I would like to know how the 75 dollars each to apply is going to be used. I am sure it is the outside testers getting the money, every penny after the kickback.

Not bashing but lots of well known stories of that department over the years. Ex sherrif growing the green. Other using dept funds for gaming at casinos. Ect.

I Hope they get them some upstanding officers on that force. One's that have a very good idea of what is right and wrong.

Apply (For 75 dollars) and serve.

Several departments have started charging to weed out those showing up that can't make it and to defer testing cost (which can cost several hundred to a thousand dollars to have a test given). When you figure in the cost of giving the test, the overtime needed to conduct the physical agility test, backgrounds and interviews, departments sink some cash into a process. I like the idea of the department not having a hand in the process until the test is passed. It stops the apps from being "sorted" when turned in.

By the way, any officer involved in a crime at that department has been brought up on charges and arrested. What a judge decides or a prosecutor does after that is out of their hands.
