Wanted to let everyone know about a BIG (200+) gun auction in Evansville. Sohn and Associates is having their winter consignment gun auction November 28th. Details at

    Sohn and Associates

They usually have a bunch of ammo and accessories on silent auction as well. They charge sales tax but no buyer's premium unless you use a credit card. $10.00/gun transfer fee. They usually have online bidding but you will have to check.

I have no affiliation with this company but I have bought a lot of guns at their auctions. Sometimes stuff is a bargain and sometimes what people pay is entertaining.

Oh, for full disclosure, #'s 35-46 I consigned.

    Firearm auction in Evansville 11-28

I went to one of their auctions a couple months ago and everything was just a little too much for me to bid on. Maybe by now some of craze has died down :dunno:

I took a quick stroll through the listing and there are several Mosin Nagants and quite a few .22 revolvers. Both of which I want but cannot necessarily afford. You don't think they would let me trade my glock? :D

Lots of S&W revolvers and lever guns too. I consigned 10 items in the auction to clear out the safe and am interested in about 15 or so. Ain't that how it goes?

How many have you purchased? I kinda figured they were all over priced...like gun shows.

The prices really vary. I have gotten some really good deals, like a mint S&W 25-7, model of 1989 for $275 - this is a $500-$600 gun, or a Ruger 10/22 stainless laminate International for $110. I have also paid close to retail for some things. I consigned a Colt 1991 compact a while back which sold for $750 :dunno::D

It all depends on who is there. Most of the modern, non collectable stuff will go for around what it should with the occasional over payment or good deal.

The most entertaining thing I ever saw was the sale of a Jennings/Raven type .22. There were two identical models. one sold for around $65 which was OK. a second one, identical, came up about 15 minutes later. There must have been two clueless people in the audience because it was bid up to $195 or so. You could hear the repressed laughter in the crowd.

Sohns always seem to have a good sale.Your right about people getting into bidding wars. That is a goood thing for the seller. Also Ron&Ron have great food, especially the bread pudding. Will have to miss this one as Evansville Memoral is playing in the state champ game,HAPPY SCROUNGING.

The Moisin you refer to was gun #151 and sold for $370. I can only assume there was something special about it. The sale had several other 91/30's and M44's. the other M44's sold for $80-$140. A 1930 Tula 91/30 sold for $180 with others in the $70-$110 range.

    Lever guns were $375-$450. S&W pinned and recessed 19-3 at $530, 29-3 at $550 - both nickel. Mossberg 500's were $140-$230.

I bought a S&W 6904 for $375 and paid a little too much. Got a nice price on a Marlin 39A though. Several Remington Speedmasters went for $160-$250.

Stoeger .410 double at $300 while a Stoeger 20 ga coach gun fetched $220.

Modern stuff as well. Taurus PT-24/7 .40 cal $275-290, Springfield XD .40, $325 and a 9mm XD with all the stuff for $450.
