I was awaken just recently by what sounded like artillery fire and/or lots of tannerite. WTF is going on?!

Fireworks. I've heard them every night for a week.

You were dreaming. I have been waking up to gun shots and other horrid dreams.. with booms and thuds.. mostly dreams about being shot.. and in a gun fight kind of thing... wake up check to make sure all is well and go to bed.. probably all in your head.

These are too...I dunno...distinct to be fireworks. Kinda had to explain, but you can tell when fireworks are fireworks.
