I went to Elmores today and picked up a new Marlin 1894SS 44mag lever action. Looks awesome in Stainless steel and walnut. I brought it home, topped it off with a Leupold 3x9x40 scope and a sling. Time to punch some paper.

    Very nice!
I've got the Puma 44 mag. Put down a little 8 pointer last fall. It took some work to get the right load and suprisingly it kicked like a mule :): The Pumas have a very thin stock and in 44 mag don't come with a pad on them so i made one and it helps a lot. I like the Marlins because they are a lot easier to scope.

OK, so i've been considering acquiring a .44 mag for deer as well. I've got the option of a Win 94 or the Marlin. Guess i was hoping for public opinion on who likes what better and the best tested loads????

Nice rifle. Do you have to leave the state to hunt deer with it? (I've always heard "no rifles" for deer in Indiana, but then I see things like this that make it sound like pistol-caliber rifles are okay....)
