Sounds familiar! Indiana passed a similar law this legislative session.

"The credit card companies have known this is coming and need to be prepared to comply with Tennessee’s new Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act the day it goes into effect," said Skrmetti. "If they are not able to do that, I will not hesitate to enforce the law duly enacted by the elected representatives of the people of Tennessee."

    No doubt on this!!

In a letter to the credit card companies on Wednesday, Skrmetti said the proposal "came from American activists and politicians attempting an international end-run around our legislative process after their initial efforts failed to pass."

Looks good on paper, but those are some massive and powerful companies.

I admit to not reading the article yet.
With a lot of political pull. They bill that passed in Indiana doesn’t have the attorney general as the keeper of the hammer. It’s the banking inspectors, that was snuck in before the last hearing.

A representative from the Attorney General’s office (Corrine Young’s if I remember correctly) even said it should be the attorney General‘s office with oversight over this.

Who is using credit cards for guns? Seems like an obvious no-no but I know the younger set runs their lives on them.

This legislation is important even if we do not use credit cards as it shapes the culture. Guns are scary and dangerous and those we must track "those people".
Now I got the picture in my mind of him walking around an arms bazaar with wads of Schillings buying guns the rest of us could never afford..

And I know the Euro is a thing now.. But hey, why let the facts get in the way of a good jest.

I've bought guns with credit cards in the past, and virtually always buy ammo with a credit card. Anything else would be a tremendous hassle when buying online.

It will be interesting to see what the credit card companies do, since some states are "requiring" them to track firearms and other states are "prohibiting" them from doing so. It would be nice if this law forces PayPal and some other processors to no longer deny firearm-related transactions.
