Glock Info

So I just pick up my first glock 19 on a trade and I like it so far. But I just don't know what generation glock it is. So this leads me to my question, Does anybody know how I can find out what generation is my glock? Is there something I can look for on it? Any help would be great!

does it have finger grooves and/or rail?

if it is gen4 it will say it on the slide.

Gen three guns have a light rail, finger grooves, second gen guns do not have the latter. Gen 4, as stated earlier, will boast a Gen4 on the slide.

I think I read somewhere that Gen 2.5 had finger grooves and no light rail

That's the one! I wonder why they made those instead of just transitioning to the Gen 3? Does that occur on any other model?
