    idea..

    How about one of these.. Not sure how many have recepticals directly under thier panel or not but they are easily installed and then you can put one of these in it.

    Flashlight

    Power goes out, light at the end of the tunnel automatically comes on and your golden..

    Oh and if your a little wire savy you can split the receptical so that one side is powered by the grid incoming line all the time, and the other is powered by your emergency circuits / generator. Then move the above mentioned light into the active side and then either a light (if you can see it) or radio into the Grid side so you know whebn the power comes back on...

    If anyone needs more info on how to do all this please let me know.. It saves looking for a light, or asking your neighbors if the power is back on..
