Call "it" whatever you want, I won't correct you or even care, because I know what you are talking about. So if you want to call your revolver a pistol, or your LTCH a gun permit, or your magazine a clip, or even if you don't pronounce something by it's proper foreign dialect, I don't care, I won't lose sleep over it.
A pistol is a firearm designed to be shot with one hand regardless of the type of action.
Hey jetgirl, what kind of 911 is that monkey shooting in your avatar?
Since I started shooting I've had to retrain my vocabulary and ex sponge all of the ignorance I had learned from movies, Tv, and the people around me. I still have the occasional slip up, but in those instances I usually correct myself. Sure people would still know what I'm talking about, but I don't want to be "That guy" at the range or in a gun shop.Clips vs magazines gets me too. Another one is bullets vs cartridges.
Hey jetgirl, what kind of 911 is that monkey shooting in your avatar? That's sexy! - the gun, not the monkey.....

My pet peeve is when somebody does something like this.
That's an M-1 Garand.
I know, it's your money and your rifle and you should be able to do whatever you want with it. But this just aint right.
That's an M-1 Garand.
Going to high school, I hear these "term" mess ups all the time. People don't understand magazine vs. clip, bullet vs cartridge. I hear that AK-47 is the best gun out there. Most people get these ideas from the video games they play, and I understand that.
I even heard someone tell me that .22s are illegal to shoot in Indiana. After telling him that I have shot them at several ranges, and there are competitions for .22s, he still didn't believe me. He proceeded to tell me that if i am shooting .22s then I must be too scared to shoot anything bigger. LOL
Pistol/ revolver gets me every time
