    i just got a ruger 44carbine. . the stock is wood its about 20+ yrs old and one side of stock is a lot darker than the other.. almost like it laided in gun oil for a long time.. any suggestions of a way to return it to stock?

    I've refinished many wood stocks and had great results. Strip the finish, sand it to remove the stain without altering the shape of the stock, tack it, and apply new finish. I like about 6 coats of Formbys Tung Oil. That's the basics. Lemme know if you would like more details or pics.

    what he said. It's pretty easy to do. Check out this 30 year old AK stock I did. It was my 1st. I used a simple spray polyurethane after staining and it turned out great.
