    This is what happens when they license you.

    From YLE

    Police in Finland have tightened up procedures for granting firearms licenses over the past few years. More applications for firearms licenses are being rejected, while licenses already granted are being rescinded an increasing pace.

    In 2007 about 1,300 individuals had their gun permits recalled by the authorities, while last year the figure rose to 1,700. In 2009 so far, more than 2,000 people have had to return their firearms to police because of cancelled permits. And because permit holders often have many weapons, the final number of weapons confiscated may run into the thousands.
    In the city of Vaasa, police have already impounded nearly the same number of weapons as they did last year, pointed out Detective Inspector Per-Anders Lundell of the Ostrobothnia police unit.
    Police precincts across the country are following directives laid down by the Interior Ministry at the end of 2007, which aim to harmonise procedures for granting gun permits. The programme has been stepped up in recent times. The most common reasons for permit cancellations include criminal activity, connections with illegal drugs, and violence. However the police operation does not account for all of the weapons being confiscated. In some cases, guns are turned in out of a sense of civic duty.
    “I’d say that most confiscations are the result of responses to domestic disturbances and family violence cases. In those instances the patrol would confiscate a weapon,” Lundell explained.
    “Cases where guns are turned in out of a sense of civic duty do touch on these same matters. An increase in criminal activity, alcohol use, and matters related to the conduct of some individuals,” said Liisa Timonen, Senior Inspector with the Interior Ministry.

    Simo Häyhä must be rolling in his grave.

    The number of rescinded firearms licenses and confiscated weapons is no small number as a percentage of the population. The population of the entire country of Finland is only 5,326,314 and that compares to just the state of Indiana's population of 6,376,792 people.

    That would be a HUGE gun grab if it were here in Indiana.

    They are ripe for Islamic take-over;
    without being able to fire a shot.
    Considering that muslims make up only .18% of their population, I find that highly unlikely and completely off topic. The people seizing the firearms are probably christians, so I'd lay the blame where it belongs.

    705 kills in 100 days. HOLY ****.

    And the other bit. Sheesh: ...On March 6 1940, Häyhä was shot in the jaw during combat. The bullet tumbled upon impact and left his head. He was picked up by fellow soldiers who said "half his head was missing". He regained consciousness on March 13, the day peace was declared.

    In fairness, religion likely doesn't have a THING to do with the issue. Unless we're calling Socialism and Fascism "religions". If your point was that "muslim" takeover is out of line, then by the same logic, so is "Christian" takeover. Socialist or possible Fascist would seem to be more up the right alley.

    Have we really got a problem with that? Unless someone knows something to the contrary, it seems that the licenses being cancelled and weapons being confiscated are warranted.

    I know... "they" must be taking other legally held firearms. It doesn't say that in the release, but, "they" must be!:dunno:

    The majority surely would. Hopefully, the minority that would fight would be enough... or that minority would be able to make their way to areas where such people actually are in the majority, and be able to help establish a new bastion of freedom.
