Very nice! I love it! I really want a garand someday. There are a couple for sale at the gun shop in Alexandria, but I couldn't see how much. Prob way out of my league right now anyways.

Thats a good lookin M1, but we need more info! Is it an SA, WRA, HRA, or IHC? Whats the serial #? Any proof marks on the stock? Barrel date?

springfield armory-240xxx (may of 1941)-the stock is pretty clean. there is a small mark on the but and a small mark below the reciever both are on the guns right side. im not sure where to find the barrel date but would like to. i know its a blue sky import

Pull back the slide and there will be a series of numbers on the side of the barrel. The date will be in there. If it's a barrel made before 1952ish (I believe) there will just be the date and maker, but after will have a drawing number, etc.

Here is a picture of an earlier barrel with just the date (in this case, 8-43):

And here is an image of a later barrel with more numbers. The date on this barrel is 7/64:

Looks like you got a nice rifle with a good looking birch stock. Now man up and replace that rubber butt plate with a steel one! :D

That's a particularly pretty rifle. I just got done watching some of Band of Brothers and partially because of it have decided that my first "fun" rifle will be an M1 and I can only wish to get an example as nice as yours.
