The grand old days of Colt police revolvers, if you were a top pistol shot, you did it with one hand and an Officers Model.

Excellent marksmanship aside, there is no way in Satan's hellforge would I ever volunteer for that. I wonder if the LA county sheriff ca. 1938 ever had to cover up a horrid accident at the range.

Funny we had pretty much the same pit setup during my time in the Corps in the mid to late 00's. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I think this type of shooting was common in the time.

Now we talk about what sights we have or what color our pistol is.

They we’re shooting cigs outa each other’s ears!

I think we can get volunteers I will go get a Hi point 9mm target model we can make this happen!

We have no idea how close the shooter was during that part of the episode. I does however give me a greater understanding of why grandpa kept saying "WHAT'D HE SAY??" :D :D :D

Holy lack of survival instinct Batman! Rules? What rules? Rules are for other people, we're professionals!

Some good shooting in there though.

If I were a betting man, I'd say they were using wax training bullets for the trick shooting. Note the holes in the paper. Some are key-holing, some are ripping the paper, and some are fairly neat holes. A lead projectile at anything like normal speed wouldn't be that upset by chalk, etc.

Holy Moly! If they tried that today some snowflake libtard would be wetting their pants just witnessing the exhibition.

Some police units still do similar demonstrations today.

In 2014, the French GIGN (counter terrorist unit) did a public demonstration where 9 snipers simultaneously shot 9 balloons while a member of the group was standing next to the balloons.

The whole thing was done in front of journalists and the chief of police.

They do the same thing indoors. Each sniper shoots his assigned colored balloon whenever his color gets called.

They also do a "trust shot".Where a member of the unit wears a clay target to show that he trusts the aim of his partner. You also have to trust the vest.
