I have an acquaintence that built this AR and lives in New Hamshire, in that state this 'rifle' is legally a pistol because it has no should shoulder stock, how would this translate in Indiana? Thanks for your opinions...
The Feds DO NOT HAVE ANY REGISTRATION! (except for NFA).
When you buy a stripped lower, it is marked on the 4473 as OTHER. Not rifle and not pistol. It used to be marked as one or the other, but that still didn't have any legal bearing on what you could do with it. A stripped lower that has never had a stock on it can be built as either a rifle or a pistol. Once it EVER has a stock on it, it can only be a rifle.
