In an open letter to the public in late July, several retired Border Patrol agents wrote on behalf of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers to warn that Mexican drug cartels are actively operating inside the United States spending millions every year to try to build their networks here. They argued that American politicians are protecting their activities as well.

    From the gov't employee handbook.

Step 1: Identify something that people like to do.
    Step 2: Make it illegal.
Step 3: Wait for inevitable Black Market to form.
Step 4: Accept bribes from black market participants.
    Step 5: Profit!!

After the CIA was caught DEALING drugs to finance their operations, and the DOJ was caught smuggling guns TO the cartels, nothing our government does surprises me anymore.

Unfortunately, for many, it is all about power -- how to get it and how to keep it -- with no thought for how many innocent people it hurts, the unintended consequences, or the good of those who put him/her in office or the good of the country.

C'mon guys. Drugs are bad. The US Gubberment knows this, and would certainly not associate themselves with such dirty things....

But seriously, drugs and guns have been entering Mexico from the US for a long time. Just like them Afghani poppy fields the CIA loves so much.

It's too good of a way to get boat loads of untraceable cash for our government to stay away from it. It's seriously like dangling a cupcake in front of a fat kid. Irresistible!!
the United States government is the biggest drug cartel in the world no if ands or buts. They profit off the front and the back. Transporting and selling and the law enforcement side. Cash, cash, cash, war, cash, fear, cash, war ........

The only thing new is the callous disregard for public safety. In the past the government at least felt the obligation to make a convincing pretense of protecting the people from dangerous individuals and/or organizations, and to keep the dangerous action away from the general public. We have reached the point at which keeping up the pretense with this, along with numerous other forms of malfeasance, has been dropped as the government effectively declares to us that it doesn't care if we know that it is a criminal organization while thumbing nose and hoisting middle finger at us.
