The first thing we should point out is that it is impossible to fire a non-fatal shot from a gun. Firearms are considered lethal or deadly force weapons. The old “shoot 'em in the leg” myth is exactly that—a myth. However, the fact that the elderly man was hit in the head with a baseball bat being wielded by one of the teenage criminals made the encounter a lethal threat. The victim is correct when he indicated how the law cannot be everywhere to protect everyone and how we must take the initiative to protect ourselves. However, what do you think about all the “bling” the victim had around his neck in the news video? We all certainly have the right to show stuff off, but should we?

Heck, if you shoot someone in the leg you can hit the femoral artery and he'll bleed out before the EMS gets there.
