Ok I know some of you guys do duracoat professionaly and others have played with it. I can do great work with duracoat alone and have a great finish when i'm done. However I don't like their color choices so the other night I scuffed up my beretta 87 target and painted with an automotive base coat. I then let it dry for a few min. and duracoated with a duracoat high gloss clear. I let it dry for about 36 hours. When I went to put it together I could scrap it off with my fingernail.

So my question is this has anyone mixed the 2 succesfully and made a durable finish that stays on the gun like duracoat?

Any help would be great, thanks

Here is a crappy cell phone pic of what it looked like before I had to strip it.

    Stick with their recipe

I have seen bad jobs with it and have helped to "restore" some Duracaot finishes. The only way that I have seen it perform as advertised is to follow their instructins and clean with the Durastrip they sell. Whit this method I have had no problems. Mixing anything that is not compatible with their polymer system is asking for trouble.

I did strip with durastrip after I scuffed with a scuffpad, forgot to mention that. There has to be something I can do to make a good color.
