I used factual information, he called my penis tiny. I'm about 99% sure if the we could actually get fair pro-self defense coverage in the media, the sheer logic of it would so overwhelm the objections of anyone reasonable. It just drives me nuts.

Seems like we'd know by the time we spent 15 minutes on a "social medium" or a forum, there are no winners in a debate conducted online. Plenty of losers but no winners.

Ordinarily I would dismiss Facebook references, but I can't deny the impact Facebook has on the opinions and attitudes of America. I could be wrong, but I believe that the democrat's mastery of Facebook propaganda made a huge difference in the elections. So, I think many if not all public debates will be significantly influenced by Facebook interactions, or similar communication via whatever replaces Facebook eventually.

I'm still not going there, though.

I find it repulsive that the NFL and many of its fans feel this "tragedy" is part in caused by "gun culture". They lost one of their "brethren" because he was ****ing lunatic madman criminal who chose to use a gun to murder his girlfriend.

Remember that in any debate your goal is NOT to change the mind of the other person. They are normally as entrenched in their position as you are in yours.

Rather, it is your goal to convince people who are sitting on the fence, and there are many, to jump to your side instead of your opponents.

There are millions of Americans who don't know what to think about gun control, abortion, gay marriage, decriminalizing drugs, etc etc etc.

Then something peaks their interest and they start looking at two (or more) folks arguing about it. This is your opportunity to push the needle, just a little, your way with them!

When truly debating someone think of yourself as a lawyer, and your issue is your client. You would NEVER expect the opposing lawyer to change their viewpoint. Your goal is to change the juries viewpoint. When that happens enough your opponent no longer matters!
