I've heard of using dogs to sniff out cancer. If I have a head cold, my lab will sniff my nose. It's amazing what dogs can smell and sense.

I agree. I've seen the same thing on tv. Documentary about cancer sniffing dogs. There loyalty and ability to sense when there is something wrong is amazing. (Especially where children are concerned ).

I've seen stories of service dogs that can sense epileptic fits early as well. One dog essentially pulled the owner off a boat dock and a few seconds after then were a good ways onto dry land, the owner fell down with a seizure. Would most likely have fallen in the water and drown.
