My sons and I are just getting in to catfishing. We're mostly large and smallmouth bass seekers but did spend sometime on the White River this year trying to find some cats.

When you start figuring them out and start catching 20lbrs and up you might give up bass fishing. Not fromilar with the white river. But here in GA my buddy and I got after the big ones. The biggest so far for me in the Coosa River is about 30lbs.But at a pay lake 471/2 flathead.

Nice, we caught quite a few smaller cats out of my uncles farm pond down in GA last summer when we were down for a family reunion. Don't know if I can give up my bass, but I like chasing the cats too.

I was in N. Carolina back in November for a few days. I went out on the Cape Fear river with my cousin and set several bush lines. I think the average was around 20-25lbs. I found it interested that we used eels for bait. Bought them and the local feed/hardware store. It was cold but a lot of fun.:rockwoot:

People catch some HUGE ones in the Tippecanoe river right downstream from my mom's place. I like to get out in the canoe and fish for them, but never caught a really big one yet. It's a much more casual pursuit for me compared to hunting. I do love to eat them though.

Mainly catfish on the White River in Greene County. If I don't feel like driving far I'll just fish the local lakes around Sullivan. Last year I got to fish the Ohio by the Newburgh Lock and Dam. That trip made me realize that my fishing equipment was not up to par.

Love to catfish. When I take canoe trips or camping -- catfishing is the way to finish the day for me.

After a hard day of working cover for bass, hiking, or just getting dinner prepared and cleaned up -- a cooler of beer, my big lawn chair with cup holders and a smoke just makes things right.

Whew, it is waaaaayy too early in the year to think about catfishing river banks.

I love catfishing! been doing it "hardcore" for a few years now. I mainly fish for big blues and flatties. my biggest was 68# blue from the James river in VA last year. my biggest from IN is a 55# blue and a 54# flathead have caught several in the 30-40lb range and about a dozen or so in the 50# range but I just cant seem to get to that 60 mark here in IN. I dont think I have ever fished a pay lake..do we have any here in IN? not sure if I would like that or not since Im so use to fishing the Ohio and Wabash rivers. might be fun to sit around a pond though.

73# flathead is the biggest I've gotten out of the Ohio river. There are fish large enough in the Ohio to eat this guy for lunch. Caught tons of channel, blues and flatheads from 5 to 50 pounds.

I could never fish for bass since my boat only runs about 50 mph. From what I've seen them basses must be quick cause all the guys that try to catch um have boats that will do 100. :D

    That's the one!

My grandparents live 7 cabins from blue-hole toward the dam. I use to go up there every summer. I'll never forget the first spoonbill cat I caught out of there. Sitting in a small boat in the middle of the night, those things would come up and smack the bottom of the boat. I use to have nightmares as a kid that I had fallen into bluehole hahaha... I might have to take another trip up there this year :D

I haven't done much river fishing for catfish, just once off someone's dock, but it was a lot of fun for the size of the catfish versus the size of the catfish caddywhompus and I catch in farm ponds around Pendleton/Anderson areas.
