This deer had his opponent's rack stuck in his head and had lost an eye. He was taken after seen in this condition. This had to have taken some tremendous force to tear it out.

Bambi's mom told him to never run with an antler in his hoof - he did not listen.

Nature - it's pretty and it's ugly at the same time. :yesway:

That is not another bucks antler, its THAT bucks antler, its a third antler abnormaly growing from the bucks skull near the eye socket. There was an article in a hunting magazine explaining it. Very odd, but not a fight picture.

The dark blob at the end of the abnormal antler is pretty normal in nontypical bucks and drop tines.

Just a guess, but I'd say that what appears to be the base would have been in pretty much constant contact with the ground any time the deer was feeding or drinking, including when it was in velvet; this could possibly have resulted in the enlarged growth and discoloration evident there.

Alot of bucks with massive droptines have that glob look at the base. It's where blood is trapped in the very flexible velvet rack. If you look you will notice how the points kinda form around the bucks head. Very odd indeed.
