Sounds like no gun was needed.
Over twenty people could not, or would not, stop the three guys doing the beating?! I suspect, even if all twenty bystanders DID have guns, no one would have gotten involved.
+1 to the girlfriend. Probably the only one there with cajones.
Oops. Good thing I didn't run afoul of the law over there. I had a Leatherman attached to my belt (OC) during our entire England trip. Don't want to spend time in a horrible British prison for "inspiring fear of a screwdriver."Yeah, its illegal to carry a knife or bladed instrument of any kind in the UK. In addition, there is actually a crime that is something along the lines of "inspiring fear of a gun" in someone.

Ha! I know you're joking, but that is the same argument you hear from liberals!
The guy that won the first season of Top Shot did just that.England is an absolute crap hole for self defense rights and weapons. I don't know why anyone lives there anymore. I would move away. The population is unarmed and forced to be victims. I think it will only be a matter of decades at most that we are really going to see some hardcore tyranny over there (people disappearing, political oriented violence etc.) That country is cursing towards another civil war or collapse. They are in just as bad financial shape as us, pretty much. They are living FAR out of their means, borrowing money just as we are to run their failed socialists experiment. I will enjoy having the last laugh when we watch it all fall apart over there. (then again, we might be in the same situation over here sooner : ( )
If relinquishing my natural right to keep and bear arms is a requirement of being part of a "civilized" society, then I want no part of it; I will be uncivilized.
Stories like this make me proud to be an American, where I can actually protect myself.
....their police are as understaffed, underpayed, and under-motivated as many of ours are. Nevermind...
I still don't understand how someone could be shot in England. It's illegal for virtually the entire population to own or use a firearm. If they don't exist, how can one be used?
