Color Engravings

How do you make the engravings white (or any other color) on a firearm. Not real sure I want to attempt the whole Testor Paint thing, and I saw something Googled that said to use wax crayons.

How else can you go about it?

The Testor's paint thing isn't hard, and it's easy to clean up with a little thinner if you don't like it. I'd recommend it over crayons which melt and run when the slide gets hot, and is therefore a lot harder to clean up.

I was thinking of making an attempt. Your way looks manageable.

It really wasn't hard at all, just a little time-consuming because of the fine detail. Also, the paint has so far held up to gun solvents for over a year so I don't have to keep re-doing it.

Are the lacquer sticks from Brownells the same thing? Easy to clean off if you change your mind?

Stick with Scutter01 tips and you will be fine. It really is not as hard as you think. I felt the same way before I did one of mine and I put it off for a long time because I was too scared. Good luck!

I've heard of using Nail Polish, but the testors paint is probably the more affordable option.

I've only used crayons, and been pleased. The testors paint or laquer sticks from brownells are always brought up every time I've seen or heard discussion of the subject though so there must be something to it.

I got my Testors Gloss White Paint, a #000 brush, and some thinner today. As soon as I eat my Hinkles, I am gonna tackle one of my sidearms.
