I hope you guys don't really believe this. Remember how we invaded Iraq because they had some weird looking trucks and were somehow tied to 9/11? Seriously, I would laugh at the country that decides to outright seize our properties or invade us, the epic guerilla fight that would ensue would make Vietnam look like a tropical paradise. We're also still working on that ridiculous border fence to keep Mexicans out of our country.

To think that China would invade us or attempt to seize control of our properties is laughable. America holds a great strategic advantage, its separated from many other countries via the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, at best its still a 12 hour flight and you can only fly over so many people at once. Not to mention, China does not have nearly enough man power for this job. If you read the headlines, China is busy quarantining their own population due to disease and quelling Uyghur rebellions. They do not have the resources necessary to do such a thing and a draft is out of the question since too many people would be forced out of the economy. The Chinese are far too clever to revert to their old ways. The government's only interest is to stay in power and to do so would mean to maintain steady economic growth. Otherwise, the rising discontent from the country would become a serious problem. Just read about some of the people rioting in China already due to labor shortages and other economic problems.

Realistically, stick with the other theories, they seem to be far more probable and far more destructive. If China wanted to screw us over, the best way to do so would be to dump our T-Bills, remove the peg currently attached to the RMB and the USD, or just stop sending us 90% of our goods. Quick, simple, and no mess! Unfortunately, all of those options also suck for China since they have an interest to keep the economy going.

    Troll harder imo.

The story is ridiculous, but your analysis even more so. If you have a few hundred million discontented people, the best thing you could do to ensure your own safety is to stick them in uniform and ship them overseas. Need economic growth, crank up the war machine and destroy your competitors.

Dumping T-Bills would screw THEM over. We don't own them, they do. It's their savings. Make that paper worthless and they beggar themselves, not us.

That war machine worked well for Soviet Russia and North Korea right?

Good thing that ol' war machine powering us through Iraq and Afghanistan is helping our economy!

As for that dumping T-Bills thing, it would screw China over, I mentioned that all of the methods I mentioned would also hurt China. But it would be destructive to the US as well since the bond market would be flooded with I don't know the exact number, maybe half a trillion in t-bills.

But hey at least we both agree this theory is stupid.
