"Starting this Wednesday, you're going to notice a change in your paycheck."

He slides a piece of paper across to me. For some reason I had a hard time focusing on it. My eyes tried to take it all in at once, and I had to force them to stop and read each line.

Old position: Software Engineer
New position: Senior Software Engineer

Old salary: $X
New salary: $X + 15,000

I read it again.

Something didn't seem right.

I read it a third time.

"Oh! Um. Ah. Thank you!"

He smiled. "You've been doing a great job."
