I've had to deal with water systems, dry chem systems, and halon.

Between hot liquid steel, and soldering/welding in control rooms needing to be isolated...

The steel mill had an insurance company come in and evaluate us...
They wanted us to get rid of the wood shelves in the storeroom, and our toaster.
    Apparently they are fire hazards.
The 650,000 pounds of liquid steel around 2,800 to 3,000 deg F..., within throwing distance.. we didn't have to worry about.

    Halon is being phased out.
    No more new halon systems.

I knew a guy that would offer to dispose of halon when companies retired their system. He would take it off their hands for free then sell it to a halon recycler who then resold it to the government for military use. He made good money doing it.

It's easier for a company to pay someone else to worry about the rules/regulations
