I just moved in from Ill-annoy. I'm wondering how do I go about getting a CCW?

Hell I haven't even transferred my drivers license yet.

Aint there a form to fill out first?

Do I just go to the local cop-shop & get the forms or do I have to find some state website & download a PDF or something?

You need to buy and display one of these first:

Transfer your drivers license first then start here...... ISP: Application for Handgun License

Thanks. I kinda figured I'd have to transfer my license first.

This ain't exactly a good neighborhood but I don't mind because I left all my valuable stuff at my parents' house in rural IL & I ain't got no kids or females to worry about. But I do have myself to worry about. I just moved here to be closer to my job.

I've never had a CCW because I'm from the Peoples Republic of Illinois.

What's the procedure if you get hassled by cops? Are they the kind of hopped up steroid-raging animals I hear about on the news all the time or are they cool about it as long as you have your permit?

I'm glad I got u here then. My Peterbilt 379 is leaking brake fluid and I can't find the source. Also, I tried to change the spark plugs but can't find then. Any words of advice?

You should probably just take it to a shop. Without going into too much detail I'm guessing you're not too familiar with that kind of equipment.

    OP,

    1) Welcome to Indiana and INGO.
    2) Transfer your driver's license first
    3) Application for LTCH is online as noted above
    4) Lifetime license is a good deal
    5) Fingerprints are usually digital, appointment scheduled with L1
    6) There are some good "stickies" at the top of each forum, they are worth reading
    7) It takes awhile to get a feel for the board and figure out which posts are serious, humorous or just stirring the pot
    8) Oh, and in Indiana it is called an LTCH instead of a CCW, people get snarky about that

Hey when you ban someone and move all their posts it makes it look like the OP is crazy and talking to himself.

Mostly the police are all right. But Hammond mayor is anti-gun.
Look around this forum (INGO). Especially the sticky's. And the carry/self defense area.
Learn the law. Learn where you can't carry.
You should think about a class.
You might want to meet us at a meet & shoot.

And it's not a big deal, but LTCH, not CCW. Some people make a big deal about it.

    CCW implies concealed carry only.
LTCH License To Carry Handgun. The Indiana Code does not state Open Carry or Concealed Carry as being illegal. Since they are not illegal, they are LEGAL.
Some police, and some people, recommend concealed. But that is a recomendation only.

You don't have to do it online, just go to your local sheriff office. I believe online is faster though but you don't have to do it online, I got mine a year ago and did it in person.
