Already unloaded is preferred. One wrong move (sweeping the nice officer, etc) and you get some pissed off people.

Drop the mag, shoot a live round into the sand barrel to show clear then hand over for the zip tie

I have a question that kinda applies to this topic. Upon entering a gun show a few years ago I had an off duty LEO, but paid to run security at a gun show asking people if they had loaded guns. Similar thing, they didn't want loaded guns at the gunshow. Is it okay to lie to him? or is that illegal/

It's doable, but not worth the hassle. I avoid the 1500 myself, but I have carried there in the past. Not sure what the purpose of carrying there would be. It's so crowded that if something went down it'd be best to get out as quick as possible, not engage in a gun fight.

I'd say the risk of a problem and the need to defend oneself inside the show is minimal. There is however, the walk to and from the car to think about. Is it a good idea to stand outside unloading before entry and reloading after exiting?

Yep, it's doable! I've been twice and won't go again because I don't like crowded places, and it's definitely crowded.

They do get upset if they find out but as long as you conceal it well, no problem.

Since the place is heavily patrolled I don't worry about it a lot but that's me. :twocents:

They have a barrel now? I thought it was "point it at the plate glass window, concrete wall or asphalt" to unload, depending on which door of which building it was in.

I admit, it's been while since I've been tho.

I was there a few years ago and there was a big red barrel. There today, no barrel, just a bunch of "Unload Guns Here" signs outside the door. I was pocket carrying and "forgot."
