Some friends of ours want us to go see their sons football game. I don't know if its at a school. Don't think it is cause he's 9. I know school would be off limits but what about a public park?

Still says a person who possesses a firearm in or on property being used by a school for a school function commits a level 6 felony.

The current code (version a) deleted the old "school function" prohibition.

Sadly, somebody seems to have cut and pasted an older copy of the code in an attempt to redefine the new classes of felonies and it shows back up becoming effective again in 2014 (version b).

They need to delete it from the code once again next session or it will become law.

    Indiana Code 35-47-9

interesting, I had not yet seen version B. That sucks, how in the world does that work? I have never seen a version A or B when reading law before. (obviously IANAL)

Never heard of it described as a 'class 6' felony - always A-D. Seems in changing the felony classifications they used the old law instead of the current law to do so. It's entirely possible this was a mistake [but who knows]...

Shouldn't this somehow be brought to the attention of ........ somebody?

As of July of next year, ALL the State laws are getting redefined. No more Class A B C D Felonies...they will be number levels. Lots of laws going away and being added to other laws. It's a HUGE change for all of us.
