Yeah, but the point is the double standard, which has been brought up. Does it keep me awake at night??? Not really....

No, there's really not a double standard, you're just refusing to admit that the normal status quo, has traditionally meant white.

For the last several hundred years. At some point the status quo was Egyptian, or Persian or Chinese or Roman depending on the time and place you lived.

    For instance:

-A "public" pool used to mean "Whites Only," thus giving rise to "Colored/Black" Pools.
-The Miss America competition used to mean "White women only," thus giving rise to "Miss Black America."
-MLB used to mean "White players only," giving rise to the Negro Leagues
-Harvard, Yale, and Princeton used to mean "White students only," so came along "Black" colleges

Why didn't these institutions just dispense with the confusion, and call themselves "whites only places?" ....simple, because there was no confusion. They were part of the norm, the status quo.

    I'd love to hear this....

Many sources credit the Tuskegee Airmen with 15,000 missions, when in fact they flew just over 300 missions. For PR purposes, every time one of their planes left the ground, it was counted as a mission. Also, for years it was published that no bombers were ever lost while being escorted by Tuskegee airmen, and that has been proven false. The myth that they were the first to shoot down a German jet has been disproven.

Are you just going to talk or are you going to cite sources? I can type pretty well myself...

Interesting. Where did these myths originate, and why would they need to make up stuff anyways. The TA had an excellent bomber loss ratio (almost half the norm).

I would think that their ratio was good because if I remember correctly there was less than a thousand Pilots and they flew around 1800 missions.
And in the beginning alot of flying was done in North Africa.

That was a long time ago. Not like that today. Back in the 1800, the IRISH and Chinese were worked to DEATH, and treated very badly. Things change.....

Reminds me of the mythological movie, Roots.

White guilt/fear of commies.....:)(Just kidding...Kind of......There was concern in the 1950's during the Red Scare that communists were stirring up racial strife and the Government did a couple of things to try to let black Americans know that the country was proud of them...The two commemorative half dollars, "Booker T Washington" and "George Washington Carver" came out at this time....That's also when kids began learning in school of Crispus Atticks, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas etc.....)

It's my understanding that due to the fact they were not allowed to fly until later in the war that many of Germany's better pilots had been killed or captured and this contributed to their higher ratios (as it did the white pilots ratios who also flew later in the war....) I have met one Tuskegee airman and was trembling when I shook his hand...But then again I tremble when I shake any WW 2 pilots hand.....

I believe the Tuskegee Airman also had something to "prove" and in doing so were a bit more aggressive in their fights than white pilot's....General "Black" Jack Pershing preferred black soldiers to white soldiers because he felt they put in more effort...They (the black soldiers) felt (rightly or wrongly) that they needed to "prove" themselves worthy of that uniform...

What's funny is Pershing's fellow generals gave him the nickname "Black" as a put down....The more they tried to use it as a slur against him the more proud of the nickname he became....I admire him a great deal and if the military would have listened to his advice the military would have been integrated 50 years before it was...
