Yeah....thanks. That was my point. Better for you not to be there than to represent gun owners as idiots who can't even spell "school." From all of your pontificating on this board, one would think that you'd realize the importance of image in the fight to preserve gun rights.

Sorry, but I don't think the message on your sign hits home when it contains grade-school errors. I don't know you personally, but from your writings on this board, you are the last person I would have guessed that would show up at a protest with a sign that makes you look like a moron.
Next time take this guy with you for added effect:
It was good for gun owners that people came to this meeting but sometimes less said is best and signs should be checked for spelling errors. You don’t go to a major university and carry a sign with the word school spelled wrong. I can’t imagine the comments on that one from impartial observers and the oppositon. Remember Dan Quale and the potatoe fiasco. Coming up with defendable positions on gun ownership is something we have the NRA for and I believe they have a lot of good literature to back our position that is factual and well written. Just having the bodies showing up made a strong statement in defense of 2nd amendment rights.

Ahem ... I posted the PLEA to spell check (with my own misstspelt wyrd) before the event.
Crap happens!

dburkhead, Thank you for showing up and supporting gun owners!! If more of us got off our lazy butts and took a stand when the call was put forth, the attention wouldn't be on any one sign, but the surge of people supporting their rights. I'm proud to have you on board with us.
Remember kids, this was an IU campus! I wouldn't worry about the typos too much!
You know. We spend a lot of time fighting for our rights. What saddens me to know end is that yall wory bout typin airs moor than the fact that people were actually there to stand up for YOUR rights. I understand some could not come or did not know. That's ok. As I said before, God Family Country. If you didn't know, you didn't know.
But the fact that you worry so much about a single word being mispelt and what others will think about it is ridiculous. You worry they will focus on it when, in effect, that is what you all have done.
The focus should be on what their talking points were, the fact they wouldn't let the opposition speak, and what can we do differently next time? (If you say spell signs right I'll)
Most of these last few posts of this thread have been very counter productive.
The biggest problem I see with folks on here is that they don't want to get involved or worry too much because they focus on the "What If's" and what COULD go wrong. Everytime I tried to get a State Capitol Rally for Gun Rights, everyone shot me down saying it couldn't be done because some crazy person would come with a gun and start shooting and make us look bad.
The Tea Parties happened NATION WIDE and almost every single major one had numbers in the THOUSANDS and I'm pretty sure every single one went off without a hitch. It was the jumping point for the whole resistance of Socialism in this Country. It was the awakening for millions of people in this Country.
You didn't see them going "What if someone comes with a gun and starts shooting..."
We have to stop our arguing and ridicule of one another and learn to unite for a common goal. Dems, Repubs, Libs, Conservs, Independents, what have you, all put aside their differences to fight for Liberty and Freedom.
Why can't we do that?
Did I spell Mr. Eagle incorrectly?
1 Patriot Way, right?
Oh and guess what! WE WEREN'T PAID BY THE NRA TO BE THERE!!!!
I've seen this said about the Tea Parties and Gun Rights Rallies. Let me tell ya, if I was supposed to get paid for either one, I musta missed the emails and paychecks.
Ugh! I recently got into a debate with someone on Topix that claimed that because rallys against Obamacare were organized, it PROVED they were "staged". Huh?? Oh, and the ACORN folks bussed in were just coincidences?
