I have a friend who was wondering if it were possible to take his old steel framed pistol that has a blued finish and refinish it in stainless steel. Any opinions?

no... mild steel will rust very very quickly.... that said it could probably be stripped down and polished and apply a clearcoat of duracoat which would give that look, but it wouldnt feel the same and the grain of the metal wouldnt show as nice, i have never tried it to see what it would look like so it would be anybodys guess. i would ask phlydog and see what he thinks it would look like... a blued gun is pretty much going to have to be either blued or painted... if he needs it reblued let me know, i am getting my bluing tanks set up as we speak.

if you are interested in the duracoat/cerakote route i suggest Nash Gunwerx as he does top notch work and is a site advertiser on here.
