Why with all the issues facing us in this political election year [oil prices, wars, threat of wars, national debt, inflation] is birth control a national issue. :dunno: I understand that general population are :sheep: but come on, this is a ploy created directly from the news media to distract us from the real issues.

Because it's a stupid issue that can potentially make the Repub candidates look bad. What else do you think the liberal media is gonna focus on? The one that initially brought this up was Clinton's buddy George Steppanopolis.

A handful of the Republican candidates do look bad and that has nothing to do with the media, liberal or otherwise. Sadly, we're given idiots to pick from and then force fed distractions so the idiots don't really have to be too concerned with actual issues during their campaigning.

It's alot easier to focus on an issue that is not a problem than to consider painful solutions to real problems. This does two things: gets the dem's off the hook for continuing to ignore them and gets the stupid party to divert their attention like a 4 year child with a 5 second attention span.

    not birth control

The HHS contraception mandate IS a religious liberty issue.

If a religious institution, is forced to do something that it teaches, and
believes to be wrong, said religious institution is having it's first amendment
right to the free practice of religion taken away.

The HHS mandate is taking away the right of conscience. See this link:

Huge wedge issue, plays directly to many women (who are extremely important to Obama's re-election chances, as he is losing blue collar men and independents) that are "single issue" voters on this matter.

IMO anyone who thinks they should get free birth control is already going to vote socialist.

Well, David Axelrod did work for the Chicago media so if you mean Axelrod to the media, then yes it was a media creation.

Axelrod is VERY good at what he does.

Usually people don't agree, but I imagine that the issue came up to address the very low income areas where people F($#K eachother from ages 10 and up and rarely use protection. You end up with lots of babies, often times without good parents or upbringings. Often times the families survive by becoming professionals at stroking the system for all the freebies possible. Freebies that aren't really free, as tax payers know.

Everything that the gov does is to get more money. So by providing birth control, they hope less babies will be born into welfare families, and gov will have less money that they have to hand out / more available to itself for extortion.

$ is all that matters, they don't care about much else

actually when you consider all of the waste the folks you mention above cost the tax payers, i would be more than happy if the Gov. would give out free birth control, it would be more than worth it.

the problem is the folks mentioned above are to lazy and ignorant to actually carry their dead buts anywhere to get the pills!

Huh? You are saying that the government wants to give free birth control to try to reduce the number of welfare babies in order to have more money to keep for itself?

If only free contraception would reduce the number of welfare babies.

As for keeping the money for the government, keep what money? They are spending over a Trillion dollars more than they take in. They do not care about keeping costs down.

It's a horsecrap nonissue that was brought up only to cause an issue.

Nobody has been talking about it for YEARS.

The way for any of the candidates to answer a question asked about
birth control during a debate is instantly refuse the premise.

"Sorry Mr, debate moderator, nobody is talking or worried about birth control AT ALL.
What they are worried about is this presidents war on the constitution
the economy and unemployment... how about we talk about what they REALLY
are concerned about and not some made up nonsense to play gotcha?!"

Cause people are sheep. You get someone crying about abortion, religion, capital punishment, gun control you make a divide and hope to pick up as many sheeple as possible. Cause Billy Bob doesn't want anyone getting an abortion he votes for candidate A
And now you don't really have to stand for anything cause none of those laws are ever going to change.

The whole issue is NOT ABOUT free birth control for poor people. Before I shipped out to Mexico, I spend an entire year working in low income areas full time. There is plenty of free birth control. There are federal programs for womens health as well as Planned parenthood programs. There are civic and religious organizations offering help. I counseled many 14 year old girls with babies. I counseled many 16 and 17 year old boys that have dropped out of school and impregnated 3 or 4 young girls. The government adding another federal program is not going to do anything about the welfare system people getting pregnant. Lack of birth control pills and condoms is not an issue. The issue is the arrogant kenyan who is illegally in executive office, stripping the constitutional rights away from the law abiding citizens. The bratty college girls testifying before congress of their inability to have free birth control is an emotional red herring. You can bet your life there is free birth control on EVERY college campus in America.

If birth control isn't an issue, then someone had better tell Santorum to STFU, because he's been playing right along with it and making it an issue.
