I searched for it to no avail... I would like to find a local gunsmith preferrable an INGO supporter to thread a barrel. I have a .22 barrel that I would like cut down 16 inches and threaded at 1/2 x 28 for a TAC-65. If you can do it let me know. I am in Fort Wayne.
Not a 10/22 It's an older marlin model 25 bolt. I had a member on here who offered to sell me an identical marlin with a threaded bbl and never got back to me. NEW QUESTION: Should I crop the barrel to 16? It is now about 22 inches and will knock a gnat off a flies behind. It will host a Tac-65 supressor, that is the reason for the threading. I am not really concerned by the length. But will lopping the bbl by 6 in drop my accuracy signifigantly? I will only ever fire this rifle at 100 yds or less.
will it really spacedock my accy at sub 100? really more like 60yds or less. I am simultaneously typing the letter to whomever threads my bbl that i want it cut to 17 inches. (stock @ 22).
Jerry Johnson can shorten and thread your barrel. He is located between Churubusco and Laotto. He is not an INGO Supporter however. His phone is 260-693-1902. If you call this evening, he will be running a bullseye match in his indoor range from 1900 to 2100 or so.
Funny you should ask that. I just stopped by 21st Century in Bluffington on Monday, and was told that they had a company who could do that. And they are site supporters. Talked to Jahred (Gamez) about it.
i have several aftermarket barrels for 22's (lilja, douglas, benchmark, kidd, and volquartson) and they all have said 22'sa burn to 20 inches after that its a waste. hope that helps your answer.
definitly gona notice a difference if you cut the barrel. i did the same minus the can. i was holding a 1 group at 100 yards and now it is about 2.5 to 3 in. i recommend long barrel but that is totally up to you. go for the can though. something about being stealthy is a confidence booster whether you need it or not. either way good luck. lets see some pics when your done
