backpack parts

Ok I got tons of info on tents thank you all.
Now I need help with my pack i have a good pack that i lent to a freind.
I now have it back and its "missing" the waist strap i am sure i could use a big belt but would really like the proper part any suggestions?
I googled backpack parts with not much in help

Make, Model, size ?

I am assuming its an external frame pack. I don't think the waistbelts actually detach from the internal frame packs.

Pics would help.

If you simply cannot find anything I can recommend a company that can make a custom one, but it's going to be more expensive most likely.

Waist straps are only needed if you are doing a lot of vertical movement.

However as was posted earlier need more info before I can help direct to an answer...

I completely disagree with that.

If you have ever hiked with an external frame pack with no waist strap, then used an internal frame back with a waist strap, you will never go back.

The waist strap does allot more than just stabilize your pack, it takes up to 75% of the weight off your shoulders and places it around your waist for a lower center of gravity and a much more stable load.

Plus, most waist straps have pockets for tasty beef jerky

But as far as external frame packs go, I think I would want a waist strap either way. The more secure the load, the happier the hiker.

I'd call the guy that borrowed it and tell him to find the dern thing or you are gonna give him a knuckle sandwich.
Seriously, I hate it when folks return things in worse shape than when they were loaned.

yeah a waist pack is definitely nice when your on long walks with a good amount of weight. they use to never let us use them in the army and it was pretty annoying but they had their reasons. once i got out i used it all the time.


and that is exactly why i don't loan my stuff out anymore. got tired of getting stuff back stained,ripped, dirty all that stuff. lol so now no one but me or my brothers get my stuff.
