    Everyone's life would be so much easier if they realized the potential Google.com has. Video links are at the bottom of that website.

    Trinitite.jpg

    The heat of the Trinity explosion melted the sandy soil around the tower to form a glassy crust known as "trinitite". Years later, with a view towards making the Trinity site a tourist-accessible national historic site (a plan that has never been carried out), the mildly radioactive crust was bulldozed into heaps and covered with soil.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_QKv4tea6I&feature=related]YouTube - 1955 Nevada Color Atom Bomb Test[/ame]

    Last March I got to spend a week at the Nevada Test Site and stand at ground zero for the Apple II atomic test. If I remember right it is the same test as the video I just posted.

    I also got to go to the crater that was left after this:

    The crater is about 300ft deep and 1200ft across. It's at the far north end of the Nevada Test Site and can bee seen on Google Earth.
