Did you see who threw us under the bus on this? None other than the NFATCA. In their desire to remove CLEO from the individual applications, they "expressed concern" about prohibited persons using trusts to skate a background check. The ATF grabs hold of that sentiment and uses to make it sound like the firearms industry is wanting this.
Also, if you read the proposed rule, which was linked above and can be more directly found at https://www.atf.gov/sites/default/f...uctive-devices-and-certain-other-firearms.pdf you will see that they not only want pics and prints, but a "law enforcement certifcate" as well. They want to change the language in the certificate to remove the "I have no information that the applicant will use the weapon illegally" section, but you will still need a sign-off.
SO, the people living in non-friendly areas who are depending on trusts to get NFA stuff will be SCREWED if this rule goes forward as-is.
Every person on the trust who would be eligible to possess the firearm would have to submit an additional new ATF form that has their identifying info on it, along with pics, prints and LEO sign-off. The new sign-off would state that the pics and prints belong to this person and possession would not violate state or local laws.
