I will be working in the area of the Pyramids in Indy soon. What is the area like? I plan to carry as I usually do, just asking. Mentally I try and be aware, sighting ahead, around etc. Not paranoid at all, just a conscious adult.

All anarchy, all the time. Make sure you wear Vibram soled shoes, they're a great help to avoid slipping on the pools of blood. (golf shoes are ok too but since you're going to spend most of your time fleeing for your life, they don't have great traction rounding corners at speed).

Carry lots of ammo too. In a typical day I burn thru no less than 300 rds of 9mm and 5.56. I usually sit on top of the White Castle during lunch. The field of fire is great and sliders are a great source of improvised weapons lube.

I've worked around that area for almost eight years so I may or may not be kidding.

Meh.... not much going on up there. We shop at that Sam's Club, and I have lunch up that way now and then. A couple of friends work at Klipsch right there. There has been mostly petty stuff in that general area, but isn't a "bad" area by any stretch.

It's OK, mostly, if you stay North of 86th St. on Michigan Rd. Do Not by all means go south on Michigan Road from 86th St. at night. Be cautious by all means anywhere inside 465, and on the outside it is a little better crime wise.

    This.

It's generally a nice/safe area. Very populated and lots of traffic!

Agreed. Not a bad area. I go to Sam's on 86th, too. Eat at Texas Roadhouse and Cracker Barrel by the Pyramids. I still carry, but it's not a bad area. But, be cautious if heading South of 86th, it starts to get rougher. I still travel that way, though. It's definitely not the worst part of town.

Good question and glad to hear the generally good responses...my kid's wanting to go to the art institute soon. It looked ok when we've been there--glad to see my impressions confirmed.

One of my co-workers caught someone in his car last year at the Costco. He held him at gun point and waited for the law to arrive. Had heard that happened to a few others in that general parking area by the Costco and Cardinal Fitness, etc
