    This lady who called me from H&R Block is named Velvet. Or at least that's how she introduced herself. I figure, if that's your real name, wouldn't you go by a nick name? So maybe she has a normal real name and Velvet is the nick name?

    Either way, I can't stop thinking about how bad that name is.

    DC bill would pay people stipends not to commit crimes

    This is what we've become as a nation. Paying people to not commit crimes.
    It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
    To call upon a neighbour and to say:--
    "We invaded you last night--we are quite prepared to fight,
    Unless you pay us cash to go away."
    And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
    And the people who ask it explain
    That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld
    And then you'll get rid of the Dane!
    It is always a temptation to a rich and lazy nation,
    To puff and look important and to say:--
    "Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
    We will therefore pay you cash to go away."
    And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
    But we've proved it again and again,
    That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
    You never get rid of the Dane.
    It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
    For fear they should succumb and go astray;
    So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
    You will find it better policy to say:--
    "We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
    Nor matter how trifling the cost;
    For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
    And the nation that plays it is lost!"

    Isn't it a bit racist to say that Latino candidates are supposed to behave a certain way?

    The NY Times can't be racists. They're progressives... :rolleyes:

    You see, they really are Latino, just not the right kind of Latino.

    Cruz and Rubio are the wrong kind of Latino.
    Fiorina is the wrong kind of woman.
    Carson is the wrong kind of black.

    But we're the racists.

    That sounds kind of racist to me. ;)

    Because of Zimmerman's apparent white privilege ("apparent" because he acts white and thus he is the recipient of privilege due to his "white" behavior) it is impossible for a negative racial statement about Zimmerman to be considered racist. Therefore your opinion is overruled. Thus is the decree of social justice. So let it be written, so let it be done.

    I fart in the general direction of your social justice.
