Michael Moore is trying to stay relevant after his "snipers are cowards" comment when American Sniper was released. According to him the situation in Flint is an attempt at genocide, and the best thing that we can do for the people there is stop sending them water...

(same Twitter handle as the sniper comments, so sadly it is not a parody account)

So for those of you attempting to follow the logic;
- years of Democrat mismanagement are the fault of the current Republican governor
- this is an attempt at genocide because the majority of Flint residents are People of Colour
- so the best thing that we can do to help them is to exploit their suffering for political gain, all while offering no interim relief

Yeah. Okay. No. Neither Capitalism nor socialism are "selfishness". Those are economic systems. It's people that are selfish, or better said, "self interested" and their natures will not change just because you take stuff away from the people who earn them and give to the people who didn't.

In capitalism self interest motivates some to conspire to limit choice such that they can suck without having to experience the natural consequences of sucking. That seems like a fairly easy problem to solve.

In socialism self interest motivates people to be takers rather than givers. That can be fixed in a couple of ways. The government can impose quotas to force people to produce some minimum. Or, enough capitalism can be added to appeal to people's self interest, enough to get up off their asses and do things for themselves.

The "fairest" way is self determination. You can't have that with socialism. It comes naturally with capitalism.
