Built my first AR long time ago, only I lost tone of the pieces to the bolt release button.. It functioned so I left it alone. I found the piece at the 1500, I have it in the rifle but now it won't hold the bolt open. It's like there isn't enough pressure holding the lock up, so does that mean he piece is going in to far, or not far enough?

Like william said, spring goes in first, then the detent, then the bolt release and install the pin. Sure you got all those parts in there and in the right order??
