This is my 2nd AR15. My first was a Rock River Arms. I learned a lot from it, and had a lot of money and accessories wrapped up into it but ended up selling it. I used the cash to buy an expensive TREK bicycle. I made the decision I needed to get into better shape.

I dropped a bunch of weight, went from a 38 to a 34. All from bicycling and weight lifting, and eating 5 times a day.

After doing all that and being able to pay off some bills, I decided to reward myself by building my next AR.

So awhile back I purchased a Spikes Tactical stripped lower from INGO advertiser AGS Armament & Consulting. And I had INGO advertiser Bradis to do the transfer for me.

I was then able to snag a Spikes Enhanced LPK from JOEBOBOUTFITTERS.com, along with some other items.
And after working over time, selling items, mowing a crap load of yards, I finally was able to order an upper. And after seeking some advice from a couple INGO members that I respect, order the upper. A 16" midlength BCM with a 12" Larue handguard.

I had some problems with putting the lower together, DAMN detent!, and figuring out how to install the BCM BCG, but I was able to do it!

It's not finished yet, but I finally have it ready to shoot this week.

    BCM midlength upper.
    Spikes spidey lower.
    12" Larue handguard.
Troy/Larue front & rear folding BUIS.
    Magpul MOE+ grip
    Magpul CTR stock
    Larue Index Clips.

I really like the low profile of the Larue Index Clips. They kinda have a slick feeling to them, but they are slim enough to get a good grip, like ladder rails. They're very firm and tuff.
They come in these tin cans..

My plan for the AR is to shoot it as is. I suck with iron sights, so I plan on getting a lot better before I buy an Aimpoint RDS.
I plan on getting a VTAC Wide sling and a Surefire flashlight for it as well.

Marc you are off to a great start and that carbine will last you the rest of your lifetime.

I look forward to hearing your comments on the index clips as you get more time with them.

    Keep us updated!

    I will!

Once I get my flashlight mounted, I'll figure out what kind of Vertical Grip to go with.

Even though I haven't shot it yet, I'm really liking the longer grip. I can definitely hold this better than the carbine.

Nice! And congrats on getting in shape. Cycling is a great activity. That with weight training and eating sounds like you know what you are doing and are getting results!

I have all the parts to build my AR, except for magazines. I'm going to be patient though. I thought it would take most of the winter to get the deals I was looking for, but the sales came fast and furious and here I am, not even October and I'm ready to put it together.:)

I had to work late tonight, but I had a little time to fire my AR for the first time tonight.

HOLY CRAP! This thing is awesome!

It's like it had no recoil at all. And I love the longer "grip span". And I think I'm going to really like these index clips.

The only problem I had was that I didn't seat the mag properly....
I plan on trying to get it sighted in tomorrow morning.
