Does anyone have any experience with an AR-15 with 45ACP upper?

I'm looking for anyone who has it or can tell me about any ARs shooting 45. I can only seem to find info on the Olympic - maybe its the only one who makes a 45 upper?

Is it like the 9mm where you need diff magwell, mags, possibly a different hammer depending on the ramp, etc..

Thanks to anyone who can provide links or info on the options.

I would imagine it is the same as the 40S&W, which I currently own. Olympic makes a complete rifle that takes Glock magazines, or they sell the upper on it's own. I believe that RRA makes an upper for 45 as well. Many of them sight specific feed ramp tolerances, so pay attention to those.

Olympic also makes a PC magazine that will use a standard AR lower and does not require a mag block, however these are expensive. Also, there are other mfg's that make lowers to accept glock magazines, I believe Lone Wolf does this now too. Otherwise, yes, it would require a mag block and some specific mags.

    HTH!

There are some complete drop in uppers out there for 9mm, 40, 5.7, 7.62*39and I do belive 45acp. One of the companies I have seen selling these is Model 1 and usually have at least one on hand at the INDY 1500.

I've had an Olympic 45 ACP (blowback) for years.

Originally had it on a standard AR lower using 45 ACP Uzi magazines.

It now resides on a Cavalry lower and uses M3 magazines.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.

A good friend, Ron Williams designed and sells gas operated 45 ACP upper receivers, among other calibers. Last I knew, Bazooka Brothers was selling his uppers.

The M3 mags were designed to chamber .45ACP...
That is what the old monster M3 fired...

I have never really had a problem out of the Uzi Mags either.
I have also used Thompson mags. Little more expensive though, actually a lot more expensive...

From everything I have been able to read on the subject Ron has got these nailed down and they work great.

And yes last I knew Bazooka Brothers was mounting them on to their lowers.

UZI 45 mags are going for $150 to $300 each if you can find them. M3 works great . I owned a FA M3, never a problem with these mags. Any idea of the cost or BB's 45 AR 15's ? Thank you

Well I finally got it. I went with an Olympic 45 Upper. Ran just great today at the range. I just need more mags.
