I got a Marlin .17 this past fall, and I love it. Put a tanned leater sling and BSA optic on and it is a great shooting gun. A little loud, but a great squirell gun.

Is your Marlin .17, HMR or Mach2?
I have a Savage in .17 HMR that shoots extremely flat out to 150 yds.
It is a good rifle for squirrel of coyote.

Mine is an HMR and I love it. What a fun gun to shoot. I want a Weatherby next or put a laminate stock on my Marlin. Got a good deal on the scope on Ebay.

I have a CZ 453 in 17 hmr that I can't wait to get to the range. If anybody has a Leupold 6x42 M8 or FX III collecting dust they want to part with, I would gladly take it off your hands.

    :+1:

i have a 10/17 and just got last night a CZ 452 .17hmr and need to get some ammo for it....as far as the 10/17 goes shoots like a laser to 125 yards....had a couple case blow outs in the beginning from old lot hornady with cracked neck......these cracked in the box....sent what i had left back to hornady and they sent me new1's....have over 550rd's of ELEY through it and not a 1 trouble....

cheap ELEY ammo.....follow this link to rimfirecentral there is a guy on there makin' a mass buy of 84,000rd's....under 2krd's for $4.22 a box and over 6krd's for $4.09 a box....

I also have a Savage .17 HMR, I've got a Leupold scope on mine and it's a real tack driver. Also one of my favorite calibers.:yesway:

I've got an inexpensive Rossi single shot and absolutely love it!! My scope is a cheapo 6-24x50 and i can still put 5 shots together from 50yds that can be covered with a quarter. I haven't really tested longer ranges yet, but with a nicer scope i'm sure accuracy will still be there.

It's one of the first guns i grab when going to the range. Oh yeah, and it's DEADLY on squirrels.

I'm planning to buy a Savage in 17 hmr. I like that laminated thumbhole stainless version.

I'm curious, does it tear up cottontails and squirrels too much for eating?

I kind of like the idea of glassing for cottontails. Cottontails don't spook at 100 yards away.

For anyone that loves the 17 HMR you should check out the .17 remington fireball. There is no recoil, just a bit more noise, and best of all twice the effective range of the HMR. If you reload you can shoot this caliber for a little less than the cost of buying .17 HMR ammo. Just my 2 cents.
