I may have a need to travel to Detroit before year's end. Anyone ever CC with their Indiana LTCH in the Motor City?

I read a couple of posts here and have learned that Michigan will respect the Indiana LTCH and that if pulled over for whatever reason, I'd be obligated to notify.

Anything else I should consider or be aware of? Never carried out of state before but don't like the idea of going into Detroit without some company.

I have carried in Detroit. Go to Handgunlaw.us and check out the Michigan laws.

I've carried several times in Detroit before I was an LEO with an Indiana LTCH. Never had any problems. Even went to an indoor range in Sterling Heights...

It was kind of spooky the last time I was there.... That place is turning into a ghost town.

I've carried in MI many times. MI laws are a little different then IN. For one you do have to notify you are CCing if you interact with LE (pulled over, etc.)

I believe their laws regarding carrying in a bar are different as well. I've not visited bars there so it's never been a concern.

As stanicus posted the handgun laws site is helpful.

    Thanks for the tips, fellas.

FYI, I'd be going to a cemetery to visit the grave of a relative. We knew he was in Detroit, but it was a family mystery as to where he was laid to rest. Happily the mystery has been solved and I'm eager to give him a visitor. ;)

I have carried there many times. Usually with my 9mm tucked under my leg while driving. Personally I think you should just have a machine gun mounted on the front of your truck/car just to be safe. Oh yeah, and have a very very good map! Don't trust the temporary detour signs! lol. Can you tell I had a bad experience with that! LOLOL

I frequently work and stay right in downtown Detroit. My company has offices in the Ren Cen buildings (GM HQ complex). I've CC there quite a bit and I've never had any issues.

There are several casinos down town as well,. There's Greek Town, MGM, and Motor City. I do think I read that there is a restriction on CC in a casino. However, I've visited both Greek Town and MGM while CC (before I read that). You should look it up though to be sure.

Should be a in a tank to go through there.

Holy necroposting with a one liner Batman!

But to add value to the thread I'll say be careful while driving to Detroit. You might have to pass through Ohio to get there. Our LTCH is no good there. You need to have your gun case and unloaded during your Ohio miles.
